Epsom Cemetery on Ashley Road, Epsom, and is run by Epsom and Ewell Borough Council.
The cemetery is open to the public every day of the year from 9 am on weekdays, weekends and public holidays. The cemetery gates are closed at dusk or at 7 pm, whichever is earlier.
Since, in June 2012 Epsom Cemetery opened a Memorial Garden to Babies. So, Surrey Sands the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death charity partnered with Epsom and Ewell Borough Council to fund The Butterfly Memorial Garden and it was positioned within the Central Lawn section of the cemetery.
In addition, the Butterfly Garden offers a peaceful area to sit and reflect with distant views of London and overlooking Surrey Hills. Also within the Garden there are two tablet walls where a butterfly plaque could be placed in babies memory.
The cemetery also offers a Garden of Remembrance which could be used for interred cremated remains, the grave spaced is turfed after interment.
Accordingly, there is an Islamic Grave Section. It is the place where graves are orientated to Mecca. So, there is a practical Islamic Burial policy in place to satisfy Islamic burial customs.
In addition, a multi-denomination chapel with capacity for sixty people is also part of the cemetery services. And it is free of charge for interments. Also the chapel is equipped with an organ and music facilities to play music CD’s. So, you are able to coordinate decoration before a service. Therefore, all it is needed is to arrange a time to be opened in advance.
Also the cemetery Superintendent office is happy to assist friends or relatives looking for a particular grave. This service is also free of charge. Although they reserve the right to charge if the search originates from a commercial source or extends to more than two or three family members.
